     Hugh Edward Egerton was born on 19 April 1855.1 He was the son of Edward Christopher Egerton and Lady Mary Frances Pierrepont.2 He married Margaret Alice Trotter, daughter of Alexander Trotter, on 7 July 1886.1 He died on 21 May 1927 at age 72.1
     He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was a practising barrister-at-law.1 He graduated from All Souls' College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, with a Beit Professor of Colonial History.1
