     Captain Thomas Arthur Nelson was born in 1877 at St. Leonards, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.^2,3 He was the son of Thomas Nelson and Jessie K. Kemp.^4,2 He married Margaret Balfour, daughter of Alexander Balfour of Dawyck and Janet Roxburgh, on 18 June 1903.⁴ He died on 9 April 1917 at Arras, France, killed in action.²
     He was a partner of Thomas Nelson and Sons, publishers.² He fought in the First World War. He lived at Achnacloich, Connel, Argyllshire, Scotland^G.⁵ He lived at St. Leonards, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.⁵ He gained the rank of Captain in the Lothian and Borders Horse.²
