     Maj.-Gen. John Mansel was the son of Reverend Christopher Mansel and Sarah Hoare.² He married Mary Biggin, daughter of John Biggin, on 9 June 1768.¹ He died on 25 April 1794 at Coteau, Flanders, France^G, killed in action.¹
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the 3rd Dragoon Guards.¹ In 1742 he inherited Cosgrove Hall on the death of his brother.¹ He lived at Cosgrove Hall, Northamptonshire, England^G.¹ He fought in the Battle of Coteau on 25 April 1794.¹

     Mary Biggin was born in 1752.¹ She was the daughter of John Biggin.¹ She married Maj.-Gen. John Mansel, son of Reverend Christopher Mansel and Sarah Hoare, on 9 June 1768.¹ She died on 14 March 1790.¹
     From 9 June 1768, her married name became Mansel.

     Jane Cosby married Thomas Maunsell, son of Boyle Maunsell.¹
     Her married name became Maunsell.¹

     Major John Christopher Mansel was born on 20 April 1771.¹ He was the son of Maj.-Gen. John Mansel and Mary Biggin.² He married Maria Antonia Linskill, daughter of William Linskill, in 1795.¹ He died on 3 April 1839 at age 67, without issue.¹
     He was Aide-de-Camp to his father.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the 3rd Dragoon Guards.¹ He lived at Cosgrove Hall, Northamptonshire, England^G.¹

     Maria Antonia Linskill was born on 6 January 1770.¹ She was the daughter of William Linskill.¹ She married Major John Christopher Mansel, son of Maj.-Gen. John Mansel and Mary Biggin, in 1795.¹ She died on 25 January 1843 at age 73.¹
     From 1795, her married name became Mansel.

     Rear-Admiral Robert Mansel was born on 15 March 1773.¹ He was the son of Maj.-Gen. John Mansel and Mary Biggin.² He married Frances Charlotta Thorold, daughter of William Thorold, on 29 May 1803.¹ He died on 5 January 1838 at age 64.¹
     He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral in the Royal Navy.¹
