     William Mackintosh, 21st of Mackintosh was the son of Lachlan Mackintosh and Anne Mackenzie.2 He married Christian Menzies, daughter of Sir Alexander Menzies of that Ilk, 2nd Bt. and Christian Campbell.1 He died in 1740, without issue.1
     He held the office of Heritable Steward of Lochaber.1 He cleared the debts incurred by the estate by dispensing with the grandeur common to Highland Chiefs.1 He held the position of 22nd Chief of the Clan Chattan from in 1731.1 He held the position of 21st Chief of the Clan Mackintosh from in 1731.1
