     Archibald Carlyle Fairfax was born on 24 August 1843.1 He was the son of Archibald Blair Fairfax and Sarah Carlyle Herbert.2 He married Virginia Caroline Redwood, daughter of W. H. Redwood, on 30 April 1873.1 He died on 4 August 1879 at age 35.1
     He fought in the American Civil War.1 He gained the rank of officer in the 17th Virginia Infantry (Stonewall Brigade), Confederate States.1

     Virginia Caroline Redwood is the daughter of W. H. Redwood.1 She married, firstly, Archibald Carlyle Fairfax, son of Archibald Blair Fairfax and Sarah Carlyle Herbert, on 30 April 1873.1 She married, secondly, Henry Byrd Lewis, son of Dangerfield Lewis and Lucy Brockborough Pratt, on 29 November 1892.1
     From 30 August 1873, her married name became Fairfax. From 29 November 1892, her married name became Lewis.1

     Lt.-Col. John Carlyle Fairfax was born on 22 December 1874.1 He was the son of Archibald Carlyle Fairfax and Virginia Caroline Redwood.2 He married Winifred May Pollock, daughter of Lt.-Col. Otis Wheeler Pollock, in 1909.1 He died on 21 April 1944 at age 69.1
     He fought in the Spanish-American War in 1898.1 He fought in the Philippine Insurrection between 1901 and 1902.1 He fought in the Pulahan Campaign Philippines between 1905 and 1906.1 He fought in the First World War between 1918 and 1919, in France.1 He was awarded the Bronze Star and two bars.1

     From 1909, her married name became Fairfax.
