     Richard Gethin was born on 23 January 1886.1,2 He was the son of Francis Reid Gethin and Harriet Georgina Moore.3 He married, firstly, Mary Hunter Bond, daughter of Willoughby James Bond, on 8 June 1927.1 He and Mary Hunter Bond were divorced in 1953.1 He married, secondly, Winifred Louise Hall, daughter of Frank James Hall, on 15 October 1953.1 He died on 15 October 1976 at age 90 at Bromley, Kent, England.1,2
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 3rd Battalion, North Staffordshire Regiment and 3rd Battalion, King's African Rifles.1 He fought in the First World War, in East Africa.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the East African Corps.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was Commandant of the Italian POW Camp Kenya.1
