     Major Alan Sidney Wentworth Stanley was born on 30 April 1861.1 He was the son of Sidney Stanley and Sara Foster.1 He married Lillian Charlotte Anderson, daughter of Musgrave Wroughton Anderson and Charlotte Miller, on 13 February 1889.1 He died on 16 March 1945 at age 83.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Essex.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Cambridgeshire.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Cambridgeshire.1 He gained the rank of Captain and Honorary Major in the 4th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was commander of the 13th Services Battalion, Suffolk Regiment.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel in 1917.1 He lived at Chesterford House, Great Chesterford, Essex, EnglandG.1
