Sir William Thomas Charles Skyrme1

     Sir William Thomas Charles Skyrme was born on 20 March 1913.2 He was the son of Charles George Skyrme.3 He married, firstly, Hon. Barbara Suzanne Lyle, daughter of Charles Ernest Leonard Lyle, 1st Baron Lyle of Westbourne and Edith Louise Levy, on 30 April 1938.3 He and Hon. Barbara Suzanne Lyle were divorced in 1953.3 He married, firstly, Mary Leaning in 1957.2 He died on 24 January 2002 at age 88.2
     He was appointed Fellow, Royal Geographical Society (F.R.G.S.)1 Sir William Thomas Charles Skyrme usually went by his middle name of Thomas. He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, England.2 He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1935 entitled to practise as a barrister-at-law.2 He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1945.3 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Artillery.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Oxfordshire in 1948.1 He was Secretary of Commissions between 1948 and 1977.2 He was appointed Territorial Decoration (T.D.) in 1949.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1953.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1966.3 He was appointed Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) in 1974.3 He was a General Commissioner of Income Tax between 1977 and 1988.2 He wrote the book The Changing Imagery of the Magistracy, published 1979.2 He was member of the Broadcasting Complaints Commission between 1981 and 1987.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Gloucestershire in 1983.2 He was chairman of Judicial Salaries Committee between 1983 and 1990.2 He wrote the book History of the Justices of the Peace, published 1990.2 He lived at Villa Tomara, Porto Valtravaglia, Lake Maggiore, ItalyG.1

     Diana Suzanne Skyrme was born on 21 March 1943.2 She is the daughter of Sir William Thomas Charles Skyrme and Hon. Barbara Suzanne Lyle.2,1 She married Sir James Gerard Waterlow, 4th Bt., son of Sir Thomas Gordon Waterlow, 3rd Bt. and Helen Elizabeth Robinson, on 10 July 1965.1
     She was educated at Godstowe School.2 She was educated at Heathfield School, Ascot, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 She was an actress in 1960.2 She was educated at Theatre Workshop Acting School.2 From 10 July 1965, her married name became Waterlow.1 She was a property developer between 1970 and 1980.2 She was Justice of the Peace (J.P.) in 1971.2 She was Board of Holloway Prison in 1978.2 She was director of the Securities and Futures Authority between 1988 and 2001.2 She was member of the Council of the Commonwealth Magistrates and Judges Association between 1995 and 1997.2 She was appointed Fellow, Society of Antiquaries (F.S.A.) in 2001.2 She lived in 2003 at Rushall Lodge, Pewsey, Wiltshire, EnglandG.2
