She was the daughter of Sir Charles Abraham Elton, 6th Bt. and Sarah Smith.² She married Reverend Edward Douglas Tinling, son of Rear-Admiral Charles Ashley Stubbs Tinling and Sarah Bullock, on 24 August 1841.¹ She died on 3 July 1876.¹
     From 24 August 1841, her married name became Tinling.
