     John Sandilands, 4th Lord Torphichen was born before 1600.1 He was the son of James Sandilands, 2nd Lord Torphichen and Elizabeth Heriot.2 A contract for the marriage of John Sandilands, 4th Lord Torphichen and Isabel Dundas was signed on 28 February 1623/24.1 He died in July 1637.1
     He graduated from Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He succeeded as the 4th Lord Torphichen, of Saint John of Torphichen, West Lothian [S., 1564] in January 1621/22.2
