     Sir Louis William Dane was born on 21 March 1856.1 He was the son of Richard Martin Dane and Sophia Eliza Griffiths.2 He married Edith Norman, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Sir Francis Booth Norman, in 1882.1 He died on 26 February 1946 at age 89.1
     He was in the Indian Civil Service in 1876.1 He was educated at Kingstown SchoolG.1 He was Chief Secretary of the Government of Punjab between 1896 and 1900.1 He held the office of Resident Magistrate between 1900 and 1901.1 He held the office of Resident of Kashmir in 1901.1 He was Secretary of the Government of India Foreign Department between 1902 and 1908.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Star of India (C.S.I.) in 1904.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Indian Empire (K.C.I.E.) in 1905.1 He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of Punjab between 1908 and 1913.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Commander, Order of the Indian Empire (G.C.I.E.) in 1911.1 He was appointed Knight of Grace, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.G.St.J.) in 1915.1 He was chairman of Altock Oil Company.1

     Edith Norman is the daughter of Lt.-Gen. Sir Francis Booth Norman.2 She married Sir Louis William Dane, son of Richard Martin Dane and Sophia Eliza Griffiths, in 1882.1
     From 1882, her married name became Dane. She was awarded the Kaisar-i-Hind Medal 1st class.1 She was appointed Dame of Grace, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (D.G.St.J.) in 1918.1 She was awarded the Medaille de la Reine Elizabethe avec Croix Rouge.1

     Captain Clement Richard Dane was born on 14 September 1883.1 He was the son of Sir Louis William Dane and Edith Norman.2 He married Bessie Albinia Combe, daughter of Dr. Sandby Combe, on 17 January 1917.1 He died circa 1968.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.1
