     He gained the rank of Captain in the Army.1

     Francis Cosby was born circa 1690 at County Laois, Ireland.2 He was the son of Thomas Cosby and Elizabeth Smith.3 He married Ann Pigott, daughter of John Pigott and Mary Edgeworth, on 3 April 1730 at St. Michan's, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.4,2 He died on 30 March 1783.2
     He lived at Vicarstown, Stradbally, County Laois, IrelandG.1
