     Mary Elizabeth Dewar was born on 9 January 1793.1 She was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. David Dewar and Mary Cutler.2 She married Lt.-Col. John Whitehill Parsons, son of John Parsons and Anne Hough, on 1 June 1820 at Gilston House, Fife, Scotland.1,3 She died on 21 March 1876 at age 83.1
     From 1 June 1820, her married name became Parsons.

     From 22 August 1825, her married name became Coker.
