     John Greene was the son of Godfrey Greene and Abigail Phillips.2 He married, firstly, Frances Nicholson, daughter of Joseph Nicholson, on 3 December 1737.2 He married, secondly, Olympia Langrishe, daughter of Robert Langrishe and Anne Whitby, on 20 September 1760.2 He married, thirdly, Jane Storey after 1769.2 He died in October 1798.2
     He held the office of High Sheriff of County Kilkenny in 1766.2 He lived at Greenville, County Kilkenny, IrelandG.1
