     John Martin Bruen was born on 20 December 1910.1 He was the son of Arthur Thomas Bruen and Lily Ruttledge.2 He married Marjorie Elaine Margaret Holliss, daughter of Arthur Gray Holliss, on 6 February 1945.1 He died on 20 April 1967 at age 56.1
     He was educated at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Devon, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.) in 1941.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1942.1
