     Rachel Makgill is the daughter of Sir James Makgill of Rankeillour and Janet Adamson.2 She married, firstly, George Stewart, 9th of Rosyth, son of Robert Stewart, 8th of Rosyth and Euphame Murray, on 10 May 1576.1 She married, secondly, Archibald Wauchope of Niddrie Marischal, son of Robert Wauchope of Niddrie Marischal and Margaret Dundas, in 1584.1,3
     From 10 May 1576, her married name became Stewart.1 From circa 1592, her married name became Wauchope.1
