     Constance Gertrude Cecily Clifton was born between October 1871 and November 1871 at London, EnglandG.2 She was the daughter of Thomas Henry Clifton and Madeline Diana Elizabeth Agnew.1 She married, firstly, Captain Hon. James Frederick Cumming-Bruce, son of Thomas John Hovell-Thurlow-Cumming-Bruce, 5th Baron Thurlow of Thurlow and Lady Elma Bruce, on 8 December 1891.1 She married, secondly, Brig.-Gen. Edward Boustead Cuthbertson, son of Thomas Cuthbertson, on 1 January 1910.1 She died on 29 March 1954, without issue.1
     She was Woman of the Bedchamber to HRH Princess Christian of Schleswig-Holstein.1 From 8 December 1891, her married name became Cumming-Bruce.1 From 1 January 1910, her married name became Cuthbertson.1

     Captain Hon. James Frederick Cumming-Bruce was born on 24 July 1867.2 He was the son of Thomas John Hovell-Thurlow-Cumming-Bruce, 5th Baron Thurlow of Thurlow and Lady Elma Bruce.1,2 He married Constance Gertrude Cecily Clifton, daughter of Thomas Henry Clifton and Madeline Diana Elizabeth Agnew, on 8 December 1891.1 He died on 11 December 1899 at age 32 at Maggersfontein, South AfricaG, killed in action.1
     He was also known as James Frederick Hovell-Thurlow.2 He gained the rank of Captain in the Black Watch.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Nairn.2

     He was appointed Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.)1 He gained the rank of Brigadier-General in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.1 He lived at Jermyns, Romsey, Hampshire, EnglandG.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.)1

     He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1902, with Bethune's Horse.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 7th Dragoon Guards.1 He fought in the First World War, in Gallipoli and Egypt.1 He was commander of the Scottish Horse.1
