     W/Cdr. Michael Nicholson Crossley was born on 29 May 1912 at Shipton on Stour, Gloucestershire, England.1,2 He was the son of Eric Crossley and Janet Boyd Merriman.3 He married, firstly, Doreen Maud Tibbitt, daughter of George Tibbitt, in 1940.1 He and Doreen Maud Tibbitt were divorced in 1945.1 He married, secondly, Sylvia Constance Heyder, daughter of Commander P. A. Heyder, on 27 April 1957.1 He married, thirdly, Moyra Louisa Margaret Hewitt in 1977.1 He died on 7 December 1987 at age 75 at South Africa.1,2
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Wing Commander in the Royal Air Force.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1940.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (D.F.C.)1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1946.1

     He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Artillery.1

     From 11 April 1950, her married name became Hamilton.
