     He graduated with a Master of Arts (A.M.)1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Australian Naval Reserve.1

     Richard de la Poer Beresford was born on 23 June 1856.1 He was the son of George William de la Poer Beresford and Elizabeth Hannah Nicholson MacLean.2 He married Sydney Julia Acraman, daughter of John Acraman, on 15 June 1887.1 He died on 19 August 1917 at age 61.3 He was buried at North Road Cemetery, Adelaide, South Australia, Australia.3
     He was a practising barrister.1
