     William Haig was born on 27 March 1835.¹ He was the son of Robert Haig and Frances Alicia Moodie.² He married, firstly, Elizabeth Pagan, daughter of William Pagan, on 7 January 1857.¹ He married, secondly, Martha Colville, daughter of David Colville, on 25 December 1861.¹ He died in 1886.¹
