     James Howard, Lord Maltravers was baptised on 17 July 1607 with King James I of Great Britain as his godparent(s.)1 He was the son of Thomas Howard, 21st Earl of Arundel and Lady Alethea Talbot, Baroness Talbot.1 He died in July 1624 at Ghent, BelgiumG, from smallpox, unmarried.1 He was buried at Arundel Castle, Arundel, Sussex, EnglandG.1
     He was styled as Lord Maltravers between 1607 and 1624.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) on 4 November 1616.1

     William Stafford-Howard, 2nd Earl of Stafford was born circa 1690.2 He was the son of John Stafford-Howard and Mary Southcote.2 He married Anne Holman, daughter of George Holman and Anastasia Howard, circa 1718.2 He died in January 1733/34.2
     He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Stafford [E., 1688] on 27 April 1719.2 He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Stafford, of co. Stafford [E., 1640] on 27 April 1719, de jure.2

John Paul Stafford-Howard, 4th Earl of Stafford

     John Paul Stafford-Howard, 4th Earl of Stafford was born on 26 June 1700.1 He was the son of John Stafford-Howard and Mary Southcote.1 He married Elizabeth Mary Michael Ewens, daughter of Abraham Ewens, in 1738.1 He died on 1 April 1762 at age 61, without issue.1
     He succeeded as the 4th Earl of Stafford [E., 1688] on 28 February 1750/51.1 He succeeded as the 5th Baron Stafford, of co. Stafford [E., 1640] on 28 February 1750/51, de jure.1 On his death, his earldom became extinct.1

     Elizabeth Mary Michael Ewens was the daughter of Abraham Ewens.2 She married John Paul Stafford-Howard, 4th Earl of Stafford, son of John Stafford-Howard and Mary Southcote, in 1738.1 She died on 16 January 1783.1
     Her married name became Stafford-Howard. After her marriage, Elizabeth Mary Michael Ewens was styled as Countess of Stafford on 28 February 1750/51.
