     Brampton Gurdon was born on 25 September 1797.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Theophilus Thornhagh Gurdon and Anne Mellish.2 He married Hon. Henrietta Susannah Ridley-Colborne, daughter of Nicholas William Ridley-Colborne, 1st and last Baron Colborne of West Harling and Charlotte Steele, on 12 August 1828.1 He died on 28 April 1881 at age 83.1
     He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Norfolk.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Norfolk.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for West Norfolk.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Norfolk in 1855.1 He lived at Grundisburgh, Suffolk, EnglandG.1 He lived at Letton, Norfolk, EnglandG.1

Henrietta Susannah Ridley-Colborne was the daughter of Nicholas William Ridley-Colborne, 1st and last Baron Colborne of West Harling and Charlotte Steele.2 She married Brampton Gurdon, son of Lt.-Col. Theophilus Thornhagh Gurdon and Anne Mellish, on 12 August 1828.1 She died on 28 May 1880.1
     From 12 August 1828, her married name became Gurdon.

     Rt. Hon. Sir William Brampton Gurdon was born on 5 September 1840.1 He was the son of Brampton Gurdon and Hon. Henrietta Susannah Ridley-Colborne.2 He married Lady Eveline Camilla Wallop, daughter of Isaac Newton Wallop, 5th Earl of Portsmouth and Lady Eveline Alicia Juliana Herbert, on 20 September 1887.1 He died on 31 May 1910 at age 69, without issue.1
     He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.)1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.)1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for North Norfolk between 1899 and 1910.1 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Suffolk in 1907.1 He lived at Assington Hall, Suffolk, EnglandG.1
