Colonel Herbert Norwood Blakeney1

     Colonel Herbert Norwood Blakeney was born on 26 April 1871.1 He was the son of Colonel Henry Blakeney and Louisa Jane Hutchinson.1 He died on 20 December 1946 at age 75, unmarried.1
     He was commissioned in 1890, in the service of the Army.1 He fought in the Boer War, for which he was mentioned in despatches.1 He was appointed Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1900.1 He fought in the First World War, during which he was wounded. He was mentioned in despatches.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1918.1 He retired from the military in 1920, with the rank of Colonel.1

     Glyn Maxwell is the son of Dr. James Maxwell.1 He married Hon. Geraldine Theodora Gabriel Harmsworth, daughter of Vere Harold Esmond Harmsworth, 3rd Viscount Rothermere and Patricia Evelyn Beverly Matthews, on 28 June 1997.1
     He was an author and poet.1
