     August Prinz von Anhalt-Plotzkau was born on 14 July 1575. He was the son of Joachim Ernst Prinz von Anhalt-Zerbst and Eleanor Herzogin von Württemberg. He married Sibylle gräfin von Solms-Laubach, daughter of Johan Georg I graf von Solms-Laubach and Margarete von Schönburg-Glauchau, in 1618. He died on 22 August 1653 at age 78.
     He succeeded as the Prinz von Anhalt in 1586. He was created Prinz von Anhalt-Plotzkau in 1603.
