     Michael Balfe was the son of Michael Balfe and Alicia Smith.1 He married, firstly, Sarah Redington, daughter of Thomas Redington.1 He married, secondly, Catherine Mullins, daughter of Bernard Mullins.1 He died in 1839, without issue.1
     He lived at South Park, County Roscommon, IrelandG.1

Nicholas Balfe1

     Nicholas Balfe was the son of Michael Balfe and Alicia Smith.1 He married Jane Ennis, daughter of Andrew Ennis, in a childless marriage.1 He died in 1856.1

Captain Patrick Joseph Balfe1

     Captain Patrick Joseph Balfe was born in September 1819.1 He was the son of Michael Balfe and Alicia Smith.1 He married Anna Mary MacDermott, daughter of William MacDermott and Anna Bodkin, on 5 November 1847.1 He died in December 1886 at age 67.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 5th Battalion Connaught Rangers.1 He held the office of High Sheriff in 1858.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He lived at South Park, County Roscommon, IrelandG.1

     Arabella Hawkes was the daughter of Charles Hawkes.1 She married James Joseph Balfe, son of Michael Balfe and Alicia Smith.1 She died on 3 November 1897 at Petersham, Sydney, New South Wales, AustraliaG.3
     Her married name became Balfe.1 She emigrated along with their children to Glebe, Sydney, New South Wales, AustraliaG, arriving on October 1885 on board SS Aberdeen.2
