Major George Thomas Dawson1

     Major George Thomas Dawson was born on 27 February 1788 at St. Pancras, London, England.2 He married Euphemia Erskine, daughter of William Erskine, Lord Kinneder and Euphemia Robison, on 22 June 1829 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2 He died on 11 October 1861 at age 73 at 28 Brighton Place, Portobello, Midlothian, Scotland.2
     He fought in the Kandyan War, Ceylon between 1817 and 1822.2 He gained the rank of Major in the 73rd Regiment of Foot.2

     Euphemia Erskine was born on 4 June 1801 at Saline, Fife, Scotland.2 She was the daughter of William Erskine, Lord Kinneder and Euphemia Robison.2 She was baptised on 27 June 1801 at Saline, Fife, Scotland.2 She married Major George Thomas Dawson on 22 June 1829 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2 She died on 7 June 1852 at age 51 at Brighton Place, Portobello, Midlothian, Scotland.2
     From 22 June 1829, her married name became Dawson.2

     Sir Martin Gilliat was born on 8 February 1913.2 He was the son of Lt.-Col. John Babington Gilliat and Muriel Helen Lycette Grinnell-Milne.2 He died on 27 May 1993 at age 80, unmarried.3
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He gained the rank of officer in the 60th Rifles.2 He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1940, and was a POW (1940-45.)2 He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1946.2 He was Deputy Military Secretary to the Viceroy of India between 1947 and 1948.2 He was Comptroller to the High Commissioner, South-East Asia in 1948.2 He was appointed Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) in 1954.2 He held the office of Assistant Private Secretary and Equery to HM Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother in 1955.2 He held the office of Private Secretary to HM Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother between 1956 and 1993.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) in 1962.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Hertfordshire in 1963.2 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order (G.C.V.O.) in January 1981.2
