     Colonel James Grierson was born on 6 January 1741.3 He was the son of Thomas Grierson of Larbreck and Elizabeth Ewart.1,3 He married Katherine McBurnie on 14 May 1767 at St. Paul's Parish, Augusta, Georgia, U.S.A.G.3 He died on 7 June 1781 at age 40 at Augusta, Georgia, U.S.A.G, killed by rebels, two days after he had surrendered.1,3
     He fought in the American War of Independence.3
