     Edward Kennedy Stopford was born on 10 October 1911.¹ He was the son of Major Heneage Frank Stopford and Margaret Amelia Kennedy.¹ He married Patricia Iona Mary Carrick, daughter of W. Howard Carrick, on 6 September 1952.¹ He died on 6 November 1983 at age 72.¹
     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England^G.¹ He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, in 1933 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He held the office of Under-Secretary of the War Office between 1954 and 1964.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1955.¹ He held the office of Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Defence between 1964 and 1971.¹

     Patricia Iona Mary Carrick was the daughter of W. Howard Carrick.¹ She married, firstly, Duncan George Stewart before 1952.¹ She married, secondly, Edward Kennedy Stopford, son of Major Heneage Frank Stopford and Margaret Amelia Kennedy, on 6 September 1952.¹ She died in 1989.¹
     From before 1952, her married name became Stewart.¹ From 6 September 1952, her married name became Stopford.¹

     Duncan George Stewart married Patricia Iona Mary Carrick, daughter of W. Howard Carrick, before 1952.¹ He died before 1952.¹
     He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.)¹
