     She was born prematurely, and the legend has it that she was black, and was spirited away to be brought up in a convent. Her mother was supposedly frightened by a black page before her birth.1

     Louise Françoise de la Baume le Blanc, Duchesse de la Vallière was born on 6 August 1644 at Château de la Vallière, FranceG.1 She was the daughter of Laurent de la Baume le Blanc, Seigneur de la Vallière and Françoise Le Prévost.1 She died on 6 June 1710 at age 65 at Carmelite Convent, rue Saint-Jacques, Paris, FranceG.1
     She gained the title of Duchesse de la Vallière.1 She and Louis XIV, Roi de France were associated between 1663 and 1666.1 She took the religious name of Sister Louise de la Miséricorde.1
