Michael Stapylton Godson was born on 24 August 1916 at Epsom, Surrey, England.1,2 He was the son of Edgar Reginald Godson and Grace Mary Chetwynd-Stapylton.3 He died on 12 May 1945 at age 28, killed in action after his aircraft was shot down over Sakishma Islands,in the East China sea.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander (A) in the Royal Navy.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.)1
