     Hon. Horace Somerset Edmond Butler was born on 23 May 1903.1 He was the son of Charles Ernest Alfred French Somerset Butler, 7th Earl of Carrick and Ellen Rosemond Mary Lindsay.2 He married Barbara Hood, daughter of Malcolm Sutherland Jacomb Hood, on 20 June 1928.1 He died on 26 August 1962 at age 59.1
     Hon. Horace Somerset Edmond Butler usually went by his middle name of Somerset.2 He was awarded the Indian Frontier Medal in 1930.2 He held the office of Member of the House of Representatives (M.H.R.) [Burma] between 1938 and 1941.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Indian Army Reserve of Officers.1 He held the office of Honourable Magistrate of Rangoon.2 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.) in 1945.1

     Barbara Hood was the daughter of Malcolm Sutherland Jacomb Hood.2 She married Hon. Horace Somerset Edmond Butler, son of Charles Ernest Alfred French Somerset Butler, 7th Earl of Carrick and Ellen Rosemond Mary Lindsay, on 20 June 1928.1 She died in 1977.1
     From 20 June 1928, her married name became Butler.

Horace Somerset Edmond Butler and Barbara Hood.2 She married, firstly, David Goldberg in 1954.1 She and David Goldberg were divorced in 1961.1 She married, secondly, Renato Candido Attilio Fratini on 11 October 1961.1 She and Renato Candido Attilio Fratini were divorced.1 She married, thirdly, James Alan Short, son of Jack Short, on 7 May 1969.1 She and James Alan Short were divorced in 1977.3 She died on 25 May 2017 at age 85.3
