     Sir John William Campbell of Airds, 1st Bt. was born on 3 March 1836.1 He was the son of John Campbell, 3rd of Ardnamurchan and Hannah Elizabeth Macleod.1 He married, firstly, Catherine Lyon Sophia Cavie, daughter of W. Woolby Cavie, on 24 July 1867.1 He married, secondly, Mary Mellor, daughter of Thomas Mellor, on 16 March 1911.2 He died on 24 January 1915 at age 78.2
     He fought in the Crimean War between 1854 and 1855.1 He fought in the China War in 1860.1 He gained the rank of Captain of Artillery in 1861.1 He fought in the Afghan War between 1879 and 1880.2 He fought in the Zhob Valley Expedition in 1884.1 He gained the rank of Colonel and Honorary Major in 1885.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1888.1 He was created 1st Baronet Campbell, of Ardnamurchan, co. Argyll [U.K.] on 29 November 1913, with a precedence of 1804.3

     Colin Campbell of Aberuchill was the son of Sir John Campbell of Lawers and Beatrix Campbell.2 He married unknown Colville. He died in 1618.1
     On 12 July 1596 he had a Crown charter of confirmation for Aberuchill.1 He also acquired Craiginch, Leonards and other lands.1

     James Campbell of Aberuchill was the son of Colin Campbell of Aberuchill and unknown Colville.2,1 He married Ann Hepburn, daughter of Patrick Hepburn of Woolling and Janet Napier.1 He died in November 1640.1
     He was a Royalist in the Civil War.1
