     He was Lieutenant-Colonel.1

     Lt.-Col. Edmund Pierce Butler was born on 20 May 1886.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Walter Selby Butler and Alice Lucy Fowler.2,1 He married Mary Diana Williams, daughter of Lawrence Gardner Williams, on 27 October 1948.1 He died on 9 April 1964 at age 77, without issue.1
     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Pembroke College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1908 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)1 He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the Royal Gloustershire Hussars between 1936 and 1940.1 He fought in the Second World War.1
