     Alice Bankes was born in 1621.2 She was the daughter of Sir John Bankes and Mary Hawtrey.1 She married Sir John Borlase, 1st Bt., son of Sir William Borlase and Amy Popham, on 4 December 1637 at St. Gile's-in-the-Fields Church, London, EnglandG.1 She died on 16 November 1683 at Paris, FranceG.1 She was buried at St. Jaques Church, Paris, FranceG.1 Her will was proven (by probate) on 31 January 1683/84.1
     From 4 December 1637, her married name became Borlase.1 Her last will was dated 8 January 1679. She became a Roman Catholic at the age of 57.1

     Mary Hawtrey was born in 1598 at Ruislip, London, England.3 She was the daughter of Ralph Hawtrey.1 She married Sir John Bankes, son of John Bankes and Elizabeth Hassell, in 1616.4 She died on 11 April 1661.3
     Mary Hawtrey also went by the nick-name of 'Brave Dame Mary', for her defense of Corfe Castle during the Civil War.3 Her married name became Bankes.

     Sir John Borlase, 2nd Bt. was born circa 1640 at Bockmer, Medmenham, Buckinghamshire, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Sir John Borlase, 1st Bt. and Alice Bankes.1 He died on 1 February 1688/89, unmarried.1 He was buried at Stratton Audley, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.2 His will was proven (by probate) on 8 November 1689.2
     He matriculated at Oriel College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 31 July 1658.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Borlase, of Bockmer, co. Bucks and of Stratton Audley, co. Oxford [E., 1642] on 8 August 1672.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wycombe between 1673 and 1681.1 His last will was dated 7 January 1683. He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Marlow between 1685 and 1689.2
     On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.2
