     Mary Christian was baptised on 8 April 1731 at Crossthwaite, Cumberland, EnglandG.1 She was the daughter of Reverend Thomas Christian and Elizabeth Monkhouse.1 She married John Scales, son of Robert Scales and Catherine Kilner, on 23 February 1773.2 She married John Scales, son of Robert Scales and Catherine Kilner, on 23 February 1773 at Crosthwaite, Cumberland, EnglandG.3 She died in July 1779 at age 48 at Thwaitehead, Lancashire, EnglandG, in childbirth.1 She was also reported to have died on 1 July 1774 at Thwaitehead, Lancashire, EnglandG.3
     From 23 February 1773, her married name became Scales.2
