     Surg. Cdr. Douglas Arnold Newbery was born in 1902 at Bath, Somerset, England.2 He was the son of Reverend A. M. C. Newbery.3 He married Janet Dorothy James, daughter of Colonel Bernard Ramsden James and Hon. Angela Mary Kay-Shuttleworth, on 2 April 1932.3 He died on 10 December 1941 at Winchester, Hampshire, England, killed on active service.2
     He fought in the Second World War.3 He gained the rank of Surgeon Commander in the Royal Navy.1 He lived at Birks House, Sedbergh, Yorkshire, EnglandG.1
