Captain Thomas Hugh Berney1

     Captain Thomas Hugh Berney was born on 17 October 1866.1 He was the son of Sir Henry Hanson Berney, 9th Bt. and Jane Dorothea Bloxam.1 He married Fridzwede Katherine Bell, daughter of Lt.-Col. F. W. Bell, on 2 July 1892.1 He died on 18 February 1900 at age 33 at Monte Cristo, Natal, South AfricaG, killed in action.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 2nd Battalion, Prince of Wales's Own West Yorkshire Regiment.1 He fought in the Boer War.

     From 2 July 1892, her married name became Berney.1
