     Sir Michael Balfour, 5th Bt. was the son of Sir Michael Balfour, 4th Bt. and unknown Ayton.1 He married Marjory Moncrieff, daughter of George Moncrieff, in 1698.1 He died in 1709, probably murdered, as he left his house on hnorseback, and was never seen again.1
     He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Balfour, of Denmiln and Kinnaird, co. Fife [N.S., 1633] in February 1698.1

     Marjory Moncrieff was born circa 1676.1 She was the daughter of George Moncrieff.1 She married Sir Michael Balfour, 5th Bt., son of Sir Michael Balfour, 4th Bt. and unknown Ayton, in 1698.1 She died on 22 August 1762.1 She was also reported to have died on 29 August 1762.1
     From 1698, her married name became Balfour.1

     Sir Michael Balfour, 6th Bt. was the son of Sir Michael Balfour, 5th Bt. and Marjory Moncrieff.1 He married Jane Ross.1 He died in 1750.1
     He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Balfour, of Denmiln and Kinnaird, co. Fife [N.S., 1633] in 1709.1 In 1750 he sold the estate of Denmiln.1

     He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Balfour, of Denmiln and Kinnaird, co. Fife [N.S., 1633] in 1773.1
     On his death, his baronetcy became dormant.1
