     Frederick William Fairbairn was born on 21 July 1865 at Richmond, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.2,3 He was the son of George Fairbairn and Virginia Armytage.2 He married Rhoda Jane McLeod, daughter of Angus McLeod, on 30 September 1891.2 He died in 1925.3 An inquest post mortem was held for his in 1918 Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.).3
     Frederick William Fairbairn was educated between 1880 and 1884 at Geelong Grammer School, Geelong, Victoria, Australia.3 He lived at Logan Downs, Queensland, Australia.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel in the service of the Australian Red Cross Society, where he visited France and Switzerland in the interest of Australian POWs during the First World War.3 He was a pastoralist.3
