He was baptised on 25 September 1850 at Minstead, Hampshire, England.1 He married Frances Mabel Archer, daughter of Captain Clement Robert Archer and Eliza Swetenham, on 26 June 1877. He died on 19 February 1887.
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Berwickshire.2
