     Conrad Sebastion Robert Russell, 5th Earl Russell was born on 15 April 1937.1 He was the son of Bertrand Arthur William Russell, 3rd Earl Russell and Patricia Helen Spence.2 He married Elizabeth Franklin Sanders, daughter of Horace Sanders, on 11 August 1962.1 He died on 14 October 2004 at age 67.3
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.4 He was educated in 1958 at Merton College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was History Lecturer between 1960 and 1974 at Bedford College, London University, London, England.1 He graduated from Merton College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1962 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He wrote the book The Crisis of Parliaments: English History 1509-1660, published 1971.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Historical Society (F.R.Hist.S.) in 1971.1 He was Reader between 1974 and 1979 at Bedford College, London University, London, England.1 He wrote the book Parliaments and English Politics 1621-1629, published 1979.1 He was professor of history between 1979 and 1984 at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, U.S.A.4 He was Astor Professor of British History between 1984 and 1990 at University College London, London, England.1 He succeeded as the 5th Earl Russell, of Kingston Russell, co.      Edith Finch was the daughter of Edward Bronson Finch.1 She married Bertrand Arthur William Russell, 3rd Earl Russell, son of John Russell, Viscount Amberley and Lady Katherine Louisa Stanley, on 15 December 1952.1 She died on 1 January 1978.1
     After her marriage, Edith Finch was styled as Countess Russell on 15 December 1952. From 15 December 1952, her married name became Russell.

     From 11 August 1962, her married name became Russell. After her marriage, Elizabeth Franklin Sanders was styled as Countess Russell in 1987.
