     Colonel James O'Dempsey was born circa 1622 at Clonygowan, County Offaly, Ireland.1 He was the son of Owny O'Dempsey and Jane Moore.1 He married Honora Browne, daughter of Thomas Browne and Begnel Stephens, on 1 May 1665 at Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.1 He died on 11 July 1690 at Drogheda, County Meath, Ireland.1
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the Regiment of Foot.1 He lived at Bishop's Court, County Kildare, Ireland.1
