     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.¹ He was educated at Magdalen College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.¹

     Dorothy Wiley was the daughter of William Herbert Wiley.¹ She married Nevile Charles Gardiner, son of Sir Robert Septimus Gardiner and Alice Marie von Ziegesar, on 31 July 1926.¹ She died on 16 July 1948.¹
     From 31 July 1926, her married name became Gardiner.¹
