     Reverend Robert Sleightholme Franks was born on 1 April 1871.1 He was the son of Reverend William James Franks and Ann Eliza Sleightholme.1 He married Katharine Shewell, daughter of Joseph Shewell, on 3 September 1902.1 He died on 19 January 1964 at age 92.1
     He was educated at Sir William Turner's Grammar School, Coatham, Yorkshire, England.1 He graduated from St. John's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was educated at Mansfield College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He was assistant lecturer between 1897 and 1900 at Mansfield College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He was Congragational Minister between 1900 and 1904 at Prenton Congregational Church, Birkenhead, Cheshire, England.1 He was Theological Lecturer between 1904 and 1910 at Friends' Settlement for Religious and Social Study, Woodbrooke, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.1 He was Principal between 1910 and 1939 at Western College, Bristol, England.1
