     Maria Louisa Hamilton was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Christopher Hamilton and Hon. Sarah Handcock.1 She married Reverend John Watkins Benn, son of James Benn and Margaret Dunn, on 1 September 1853.1 She died on 6 April 1917.1
     From 1 September 1853, her married name became Benn.1

     James Edward Hamilton Benn was born on 29 October 1860.1 He was the son of Reverend John Watkins Benn and Maria Louisa Hamilton.1 He married Marion Wavell, daughter of T. H. Wavell, on 6 August 1910.1 He died on 11 September 1930 at age 69.1
     He held the office of Bencher of the Inner Temple.1

     Marion Wavell is the daughter of T. H. Wavell.1 She married, firstly, E. J. Adams before 1910.1 She married, secondly, James Edward Hamilton Benn, son of Reverend John Watkins Benn and Maria Louisa Hamilton, on 6 August 1910.1
     From before 1910, her married name became Adams.1 From 6 August 1910, her married name became Benn.1

Sir Ion Hamilton Benn, 1st Bt.1

     Sir Ion Hamilton Benn, 1st Bt. was born on 31 March 1863.1 He was the son of Reverend John Watkins Benn and Maria Louisa Hamilton.1 He married, firstly, Frances Charlotte Bridges, daughter of Nathaniel Bridges, on 3 February 1885.1 He married, secondly, Katharine Winifred Grier, daughter of Brockwell Grier, on 25 August 1950.2 He died on 4 August 1956 at age 93.1
     He was educated at Merchant Taylors' School, London, England.1 He held the office of Mayor of Greenwich between 1901 and 1902.1 He held the office of Member of London City Council between 1907 and 1910, for Greenwich.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Greenwich between 1910 and 1922.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy Volunteers Reserve.1 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918, where he was mentioned in dispatches three times.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.1 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1918.1 He was appointed Knight of Grace, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.G.St.J.)1 He was created 1st Baronet Benn, of Rollesby, co. Norfolk [U.K.] on 17 June 1920.1 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.) in 1926.1
