     He was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, England.¹ He gained the rank of officer in the Royal New Zealand Air Force.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He lived in 2003 at 2/26 Rothesay Bay Road, Auckland, New Zealand.¹

     Alice Joyce Nye was the daughter of Alfred Wilfred Nye.¹ She married George Maling Townshend, son of Clifford Edwin Townshend and Rose Evelyn Greensill, on 23 March 1944.¹ She died in 1986.¹
