     Valentin Ernest de Satgé, 1st Vicomte de Saint-Jean was born in 1802.1 He was the son of Cosme-Thomas Bonaventure de Satgé and Françoise Baladud de St. Jean.1 He married Caroline Sparkes, daughter of Sherrington Sparkes, in August 1832.1 He died in July 1881 at Amelie les Bains, France.1

     He gained the rank of Captain in the 7th (S), King's Royal Rifle Corps.1 He fought in the First World War.1
