     John Legh was born in 1612.1 He was the son of Peter Legh and Catherine Aston.1 He married Mary Darell, daughter of Sir John Darell, 1st Bt., in 1635.1 He died in 1640.1
     He was educated at Brasenose College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1

     Mary Darell is the daughter of Sir John Darell, 1st Bt.1 She married William Greenwell.1 She married John Legh, son of Peter Legh and Catherine Aston, in 1635.1
     Her married name became Greenwell.1 From 1635, her married name became Legh.1

     He held the office of Recorder of Cheshire.1 He graduated from Magdalen College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1668 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was Deputy Steward of the Forest of Macclesfield in 1688.1
