     Major Sir Bertram Clough Williams-Ellis was born on 28 May 1883.3 He was the son of Reverend John Clough Williams-Ellis and Ellen Mabel Greaves.3 He married Mary Amabel Nassau Strachey, daughter of John St. Loe Strachey and Henrietta Mary A. Simpson, on 31 July 1915.1 He died in 1978.3
     He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.)1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Institute of British Architects (F.R.I.B.A.)1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 Major Sir Bertram Clough Williams-Ellis usually went by his middle name of Clough.3 He gained the rank of Major in the Welsh Guards.1

     Mary Amabel Nassau Strachey was born on 10 May 1894.1 She was the daughter of John St. Loe Strachey and Henrietta Mary A. Simpson.1 She married Major Sir Bertram Clough Williams-Ellis, son of Reverend John Clough Williams-Ellis and Ellen Mabel Greaves, on 31 July 1915.1
     Mary Amabel Nassau Strachey usually went by her middle name of Amabel.1 From 31 July 1915, her married name became Williams-Ellis.3 She was an author and journalist.1

     Susan Williams-Ellis was born on 6 June 1918 at Guildford, Surrey, England.1 She was the daughter of Major Sir Bertram Clough Williams-Ellis and Mary Amabel Nassau Strachey.1 She married Euan Cooper-Willis in 1945.1 She died on 26 November 2007 at age 89 at Portmeirion, Gwynedd, Wales.1
     She was educated at Chelsea Art School, Chelsea, London, England.1 From 1945, her married name became Cooper-Willis.1 She was founder of Portmeirion Potteries.1
