     Admiral Miklós Horthy was born on 18 June 1868 at Kenderes, Hungary.1 He was the son of István Horthy and Paula Halassy.1 He married Magdolna Vilma Benedikta Purgly de Jószáshely in 1901 at Arad, Romania.1 He died on 9 February 1957 at age 88 at Estoril, Portugal.1
     He gained the rank of Sub-Lieutenant in 1896 in the Austro-Hungarian Navy.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1900.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 January 1909.1 He gained the rank of Commander on 1 November 1911.1 He gained the rank of Captain on 20 January 1914.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral on 27 February 1918.1 He was Commander-in-Chief of the Austro-Hungarian Navy on 27 February 1918.1 He gained the rank of Vice-Admiral on 30 October 1918.1 He held the office of Regent of the Kingdom of Hungary between 1 March 1920 and 15 October 1944.1

     He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of 1st Lieutenant in the Royal Hungarian Air Force.1 He held the office of Deputy Regent of Hungary between February 1942 and August 1942.1
